Overview

A unique piece of Lunenburg history ready for its next chapter. Built in 1891 and relocated in 1903, this former church offers distinctive character and an opportunity for a buyer with vision. Situated on a level, open .40-acre lot in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, the property retains many of the architectural details that reflect its long history. Enter through the front doors into a welcoming entryway that opens to an impressive great room with soaring cathedral ceilings, stained-glass windows, pews that are included with the sale, and a raised pulpit area. A small room just off the pulpit provides additional space and includes a separate rear entrance. The second level features a balcony overlooking the great room, along with stairs leading into the bell tower. Bring your ideas and imagine the possibilities for this one-of-a-kind building. Subject to all necessary permits, approvals, and deed restrictions, potential future uses could include conversion to a unique residence, professional office, art or photography studio, retail or storefront space, or short-term rental. Its open interior, architectural character, and historic details provide an interesting starting point for a creative renovation. Centrally located near Littleton and Lancaster, NH, and St. Johnsbury, VT, the property provides convenient access to the Northeast Kingdom and White Mountains. Enjoy four-season recreation with nearby VAST snowmobile trails and ATV access directly from the property. The property is being sold as-is, and it will need on-site water and wastewater systems. Property is subject to restrictions requiring future use to be consistent with Catholic teachings. Any proposed use, renovation, or change of use is subject to applicable deed restrictions and state permits and approvals.
