Howdy! I'm David Smalt, originally from Norfolk, Virginia. I've had the opportunity to live in many different parts of the country—from Northeast PA to Nashville to Los Angeles—but there's something special about Hampton Roads that's kept me rooted here. I started my career in the service industry early on, making coffee at 15 & later mixing cocktails as a bartender. Blessed to call Hampton Roads home since 1999. Raised by broker-owner, Ron Sawyer, hard work and dedication have been a #1 priority since the beginning. After graduating high school from Hickory High, I decided to further my education and softball career at the University of Mary Washington. However, I received my Bachelor's Degree from Old Dominion University – Go Monarchs! Family is very important to me, I am so grateful for my parents, siblings and the joy they bring to my life! I’ve lived in other parts of the country, but I kept coming back to Hampton Roads and I’m here to stay! Originally from the small town of Wakefield, Virginia, I love the water and friendly people of Hampton Roads. The area has so much to offer and I enjoy showing it off. I graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics and received my Master’s Degree in Adult Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. For twenty years, I helped companies and their families move to the area from all over the world. My former professions taught me how to balance serving clients and paying close attention to detail. I know that not everyone will have the same desires and wants, so I focus on honing in on what each client needs, and delivering it to them. At the end of a closing, I want my clients to walk away feeling like I’ve answered all of their questions and made a complex process as simple as possible. I know I’ve done my job whenever I hear a client say, “Wow, that was so much easier than I expected!” When I’m not helping my clients, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our two boys. There’s nothing like the great outdoors, unwinding to music, or being on any beach with my family. My family and I are proud to call Hampton Roads home.
